What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a therapy that originated in China thousands of years ago, around the 1st - 2nd century BC.  It involves the insertion of very fine needles into carefully selected points along the channels and meridian systems of the body.  The meridian system of the body is similar to the electrical system in your home.  When you wish to use the energy that exists in the electrical system of your home, you plug into a power source or turn on a switch.  Needling Acupuncture points is similar to this process.

Points are needled to correct the energy flow within the meridian system and create a state of harmony in the body.   I personally believe in building health by nourishing each unique individual in all of their wholeness, and create a treatment plan that fits into an individual lifestyle.

Cupping involves the use of glass cups placed on the skin to improve circulation and blood and qi to the skin and muscles as well as removing cold and heat toxins from the body.  It is commonly used in the treatment of the common cold and to treat various musculoskeletal conditions.

It works by creating a vacuum inside each cup which raises the skin slightly and allows blood to circulate and the pores to open in order to release toxins from the skin.

What is Gua Sha?
Gua Sha involves the use of Chinese ceramic spoons and is a form of skin scraping treatment.
